I’m one of the “relentless Bond nerds” I guess. Sure, the old ones are formulaic, but you know what, IT’S AN AWESOME FUCKING FORMULA!!! Bond movies are fun, sure they can be hokey at times, but they’re a good time. I did enjoy Casino Royale. Quantum of Solace was only a “Bond Movie” in the sense that there was a guy named James Bond in them. I thought I was watching a British version of a Bourne movie quite honestly. I know there are some out there that like the newer style, but I’m not one of them. You can keep your parkour and gratuitous fight quick cuts, I want Q and Moneypenny and a fucking Aston Martin DB9 that can fly and shoot rockets out of the headlights.
The Bar Exam is getting closer so it’s been a long day of studying. Sadly after this weekend I’ll be in a pretty much all study mode(including my birthday on 2/15, sad panda). Luckily this weekend is sending me off with a sick slate. Tonight’s UFC card is insanely stacked with 3 potentially fantastic fights in Jones v Bader, Griffin v Franklin, and the big daddy, Silva v Belfort. Tomorrow morning has Fernando Torres making his first appearance for Chelsea against his old club Liverpool, and finally the Super Bowl. Strangely enough, I think they are also listed in order of my excitement for them. The terrible Broncos season really soured me on the NFL, so I can’t say I care all that much for the game. I think the Steelers take it for what it’s worth. Happy sports weekend everybody, hope it’s a fun one.
Chipper was mainly just sad he ruined the game. It was all ok though. The other Braves said it was a message from the Gods. Then Freddie Freeman ran home and took his Stepdad’s ball that some old lady named Baby Ruth signed
Oh National Signing Day, you can bring so much fun and heartbreak to college football fans. It’s frequently been said that recruiting is the lifeblood of a program. In homer news: Notre Dame has received letters of intent from all of their verbals except for one so far, and he’s stuck in a snowstorm. To cap it, Coach Kelly just joined the UND liveshow to announce that 4* Troy Niklas, an LA area kid who’s dad went to USC, decided to sign with ND. A new guy is always a nice pickup, but this was especially sweet because he was down to us and USC.
The main one I was worried about was 5* DE Stephon Tuitt who flipped his verbal. ND has long been mocked for their inability to get Defensive line talent, so Kelly made it his main target and has 4 of the top 12 DE’s according to ESPN’s rankings.
Following recruiting too closely can get really depressing. It can be hard to remember that these are 17-18 year old kids making the biggest call of their lives. All that being said, ND has lined up a phenomenal class so far. The issue is whether or not Kelly and his staff will be able to develop the talent. Many will point out that Weis had top classes as well, which he did. The problem is he didn’t make them better. Hopefully Kelly doesn’t make the same mistake. I hope your school also signs a nice class, unless you are a Michigan or USC fan that is (sorry CDB and Colin).
