So the interwebs blew up due to the announcement of ND’s one-off jerseys for the “Shamrock Series” game against Miami in Chicago. The promo pics from Adidas were abysmal, the pants looked like they were from Michigan and the helmets…well…the helmets just are terrible. Here’s some pics from actual life which look much better. Personally, I actually like the jerseys and pants. I really like the stripe on the pants w/ the Leprechaun inside, but don’t get why it’s only on one side.
But good Lord that helmet. The gold is the weird patterned/textured gold from the Maryland helmets last year, which were also abysmal. The navy side with the leprechaun logo doesn’t look terrible, except for the fact that the leprechaun is facing the wrong way. But why this weird mishmash? why the 60/40 or 70/30 split?? I just don’t get those at all.
As predictable, NDNation troglodytes flipped their shit, many claiming they want to give up on the university. A message to any of those folks that are going to quit ND because of jerseys, grass, jumbotrons, etc….GOOD, GET THE FUCK OUT!!! I’m so tired of the bullshit arguments. I’ve made no secret of my disdain for a vast majority of ND fans. I’m just sick of people bitching and moaning. The only dumber argument than about ND’s tradition is about ND’s relevance, which has also gotten plenty of run thanks to, hilariously enough, an article by Rick Reily (a writer that hasn’t been relevant or worth reading since the 90s either). People like to make a big deal out of whether or not ND is “relevant” in the college football world. I could not give less of a shit. Some people will watch, some wont. I don’t give a damn if everyone in the country cares what happens to ND, I just want them to be good.
Goddamn I need the season to get here already. Give me actual things to talk about. PLEASE.
