Well, I guess the pretty near universal panning of the NBA Elite demo got back to the home office as the game will be pushed back to 2011. I applaud EA for this move. As much as people like to say that EA is happy to sit on their laurels with games, this is the type of move that shows they really do try to put out a good game. Well done.
But why is this story here? Well as the self proclaimed Tumblr home of all your NBA Jam news, included in the Press Release from the big guy Peter Moore, the 360 and PS3 will now be receiving standalone versions of the game at Christmas time. At this point, there was no info on pricing or modes to be offered.
If you are looking for one uneducated man’s opinion: the 360/PS3 games will be a full $60 release, maybe $50 at the cheapest. The reason I say this is I believe they will now include every mode that the Wii version has. Originally the 360/PS3 were only going to have exhibition, the classic ladder mode where you run through all the teams, and online play. The Wii however has some additional boss modes that feature different game types and juiced up legends. This sounds awesome. Sadly Wii has no online/HD graphics. If EA was really going to only give the 3 limited modes originally planned, I have a hard time believing they couldn’t just take the code and make it an XBLA/PSN game in a much quicker turnaround. I could be wrong, but that’s just my prediction. You know me, I’ll keep you posted. BOOMSHAKALAKA
