Well kids, we are moving through the Round 1 games at rapid pace and I hope you are faring better than me because holy hell I am terrible at this. As a refresher, Round 2 will be composed of every non BCS game that takes place starting 12/31, with each game being worth 2 points. The BCS games will be worth 3 points. The National Title game will be worth 5 points. As a tiebreaker please give your guess for the total number of points scored in the National Title Game. If somehow it is still tied here’s how I’ll decide a winner: Who picked more BCS games right, Who picked more Total games right, Whoever of the tied people says the nicest thing to me the day I add up the points. The points for Round 1 can be seen here. Go get em

Well, we’ve had our fun this year haven’t we? But it’s bowl time. That time of the year when there are way too many shitty games that shouldn’t exist, but we will watch all of them due to the impending desolate wasteland that is the college football void. I’m getting the shakes just thinking about it. Just like last year, business is about to pick up because, that’s right, PRIZES ON THE LINE! Now, the winner will get something guaranteed to blow their minds out of amazement* (*note this is not an actual guarantee and is probably a total lie). What is the prize you ask? I don’t know yet. It could be an all expenses paid trip to Tahiti. It could be a cheeto that kind of looks like a horse. It could be a sexy night out on the town with yours truly you lucky dogs. Prizes are TBD, but hey, you like free dont ya?
Anyway, last year I did this in three stages and it worked pretty well. The first round, the page you are currently reading, will cover all the bowls starting on Saturday 12/15 through Saturday 12/29. These games will be worth 1 point a piece, because most of these games are terrible. Round 2 will be all of the bowls that take place starting New Year’s Eve, Monday 12/31, that are not BCS bowls. These games, since they are “better” bowls, will be worth 2 points. Round 3 will obviously be the BCS games and the National Title game. The BCS games will be worth 3 points, the Title game will be 5. The tiebreaker will be your guess for the total points scored in the title game. Also, yes, lines will move, but only pick against the ones posted. If you make up your own lines your pick is wrong.
After the jump will be the first Round of games. I’ll put up the round 2 and 3 picks sometime after Christmas, along with a score update once all of the Round 1 games are completed. If you have been playing all year, THANKS! Please continue to enjoy the shenanigans. If you’ve just read along and thought eh, I missed weeks so I’m done. Now is a perfect time to jump in because it’s a clean slate, so fuck it, let’s go bowling kids.

I want a 20 part series of these guys’ adventures ala Trapped in the Closet. Possibly the greatest rap song of all time.

Hello and Happy New Year friends. I hope you all survived the NYE weekend, I did, but not by much. In fact, I ended up in Dallas until late Monday, hence no score update right after the 1st round ended. I’m sure you were all waiting w/ baited breath, but BLeez was nice enough to add the first round points up. I assumed he was right, but just in case, here’s a full breakdown of all the games up to this date. I’ll start w/ the 1st round after the jump and give the score there, and then go on to the 2nd & 3rd round games w/ a full score breakdown at the end. Essentially, if you don’t really care, go to the bottom.

We’ve had some fun this year, we’ve picked some winners, and plenty of losers, talked some trash, stumped for our alma maters, and done what all good college football fans do. But that was just the regular season. Because the Powers That Be hate us, fun, money, and competition, we still have a bowl system. So let’s pick some bowls. Which bowls you ask? ALL OF THE BOWLS. That’s right kids, we’re gonna do the damn thing up big. This will consist of 3 rounds. The first round, the page you are currently reading, will cover all the bowls starting on Saturday 12/17 through Friday 12/30. These games will be worth 1 point a piece, because most of us haven’t seen more than 10 minutes of play this year from most of these teams. Round 2 will be all of the bowls that take place starting Saturday 12/31 that are not BCS bowls. These games, since they are “better” bowls, will be worth 2 points. Round 3 will obviously be the BCS games and the National Title game. The BCS games will be worth 3 points, the Title game will be 5. The tiebreaker will be your guess for the total points scored in the title game. Why do we need a tiebreaker you ask? Well kids, we’ve been doing this for shits and giggles so far, and it’s fun. But let’s make it interesting. That’s right, Prizes for the winner. PRIZES! Will they be awesome? Nope. I have random gift cards in my house/wallet. I have no clue if they are still valid or have any money on them, but they can be YOURS!! If you didn’t pick during the year, don’t worry, this is a whole new ballgame. Get excited. This should be fun. As always, we pick against the spread. The downside to having to pick so far ahead is the lines may change. HOWEVAH, just pick against the spread I post. Also, make all your picks at once for each round. Some may be tempted to go day by day, don’t be that guy. You will be disqualified for annoying me/making my life harder. LET’S PICK SOME BOWLS WOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Apparently I forgot to give the results from the final week of games last week. You all should be well aware by now that I’m an idiot, so this shouldn’t come as much of a surprise. How’d we close out the regular season?

Notre Dame/Maryland at Dan Snyder Stadium is as silly as it sounds, especially when watched from the top row.
On more positive note it was great to finally meet you last night, Eddie.
Oh, and there was a guy in yellow plaid pants, a purple scarf, grey overcoat, teal shoes, and a hat. He also had a giant beard. This man was very drunk, but not Eddie.
Right back at you buddy. DC was a blast. Met Denny and saw Luke, chilled with my college buddies, and watched ND murder Maryland. Not a bad way to spend a weekend.

Notre Dame (-7.5) @ Pittsburgh
Pick: ND
Result: 15-12 ND, LOSS
Well, this game was miserable. If you watched, I’d like to apologize on behalf of Notre Dame for the pathetic excuse of a football game you watched. A win is a win, but this was just ugly.
#2 LSU (-6.5) @ #16 WVU
Pick: LSU
Result: 47-21 LSU, WIN
Hooooooooooo boy LSU is not messing around yall. Jarett Lee is proving to be a highly competent quarterback, which nobody would’ve expected quite honestly. The real story though was LSU’s D and special teams. Morris Claiborne had a 99 yard TD return that had people evoking the name of Patrick Peterson. Tyrann Mathieu had a gorgeous pick that also let me know people have started calling him the Honey Badger, because he takes what he wants and doesn’t give a fuck. This is awesome. This game led one football writer to say that LSU could probably beat half of the 1-A teams out there by just taking a knee every offensive play and letting their D and Special Teams go to work. (h/t Holly)
#14 Arkansas @ #3 Alabama (-12)
Pick: Bama
Result: 38-14 Bama, WIN
The Nick Saban death machine continues to roll on. If you aren’t scared of this team you are either already dead or welcome death openly.
#7 Oklahoma St @ #8 Texas A&M (-4)
Pick: A&M
Result: 30-29 Okie St, LOSS
This was an incredibly entertaining game that featured tons of offense and tons of times with each team trying to give the game away. The Aggies ended up out self-destructing the T.Boone’s and OSU came out with a huge home win.
#11 Florida St @ #21 Clemson (-2)
Pick: Florida St
Result: 35-30 Clemson, Loss
Again, so much fail, so little time in this game. Clemson got a huge upset over a now reeling Seminole team, just a week after breaking Auburn’s winning streak. Not a bad follow up Tigers.
Week: 2-3
Season: 9-10-1
Back under .500 so the I’m an idiot tag will make it’s triumphant return for this post. At least I know the SEC? How’d the rest of you fare?
Matt: Week: 0-5,WAMPPPPPPWAMPPPPPPPPPPP Season: 9-10-1. After what I believe is his 5th threat to never pick ND again, maybe the donut will make it stick. And yes, from now on, anyone going 0for get’s the Price is Right sad trombone. You must click this and accept your shame
Judson: Week: 2-3, Season: 7-12-1
Ryan: Week: 1-4, Season: 6-8-1
Kristin: Week: 1-4, Season: 5-14-1
Brian: Week: 2-3, Season: 4-15-1
Past players that took the week off:
Gimber: Season: 3-6-1
DLaw: Season: 1-3-1
Donnie: Season: 7-7-1
Come back tonight for this week’s picks. Good work kids.

Another week, another opportunity to delve into a homicidal rage after a Notre Dame game. 5 more turnovers….really? F. That. Noise. If that happens while I’m up there this weekend, bad things will happen. Let’s see how the picks went

Adrian: Damnnnnn, bold claim. It was definitely awesome, just came out of nowhere.
Sarah: I don’t know how I fell so far behind, but I’m back on it now.
Andy: For sure, I’m popping Brotherhood in right now.

After a tragic accident at a wedding last weekend (RIP Oakleys), I had to get a new pair of shades. Yay or nay interweb amigos?

Ugh, if that happens I riot. Drogba is the best. I didn’t see the game this week, but I saw Torres’ first 2, and he blew about 5 easy goal chances. I assume he did the same this week? Good to see Anelka was crushing it. Did they really only give Drogba 15 minutes this week? Damn I hope this doesn’t go south. Worst part of Drogba being involved, is he has a tendency to get butthurt about these types of things and just quit on the field. Sad panda #teamDrogba

Hey, what’s up kids, I’ve missed you all internet. The bar exam (part deux) is finally done, and I’m hoping it was good enough. As you can see, I’ve got a glorious playoff beard going that sadly must die now that it’s mission has been completed. But how have you guys been? What all have aI missed in the last few weeks?

Even Will Leitch, the founding editor of Deadspin and one of Daulerio’s closest friends, has gotten a little queasy. At first, Leitch talked with Daulerio constantly about the site, hashing out ideas and offering advice. But in July 2009, when Daulerio posted a link to the Erin Andrews stalker video, Leitch thought he went too far. They remain close but no longer talk about Deadspin. Leitch, now a writer for New York magazine, told me he wouldn’t have published the Favre photos: “I never wanted people to feel like they needed to take a shower.”
That sums up exactly why I quit reading and commenting at Deadspin. And I was an everyday reader and commenter from 06-08. The Favre story was good and it needed to come out as he was sexually harassing people at his work place. I do not and will never agree with the need to post any and all ‘dong shots’
Good for them for increasing traffic three fold since Will left, however a large audience doesn’t mean quality (see Men, Two and a half and Back, Nickel)
I miss the old dive bar feel to Deadspin, now it’s like a crowded Chilli’s in a suburban strip mall with a bunch of morons yelling over each other over who can be the crudest.
I wish I’d have been part of the ‘old Deadspin’ crowd, but I never was. And now, it’s a cesspool. I figure I can just hang out with a lot of y’all on the Tumblr, and get the best of both worlds.
I certainly wasn’t one of the biggest commenters out there, but I enjoyed what little i did join in, and DU!AN always made for a blast. Once Will left, shit went downhill quick. Matt put it perfectly as always. Seems interweb fun usually dies out after awhile. Luckily most of the fun has continued on, be it here or on Twitter. I mean, Nibbles came to Tumblr with us! Big ups old Deadspin amigos, and I guess to new interweb bros like Denny as well.
