NDEddieMac’s 2k11 Bowl Pick Extravangaza: Score Update

Hello and Happy New Year friends. I hope you all survived the NYE weekend, I did, but not by much. In fact, I ended up in Dallas until late Monday, hence no score update right after the 1st round ended. I’m sure you were all waiting w/ baited breath, but BLeez was nice enough to add the first round points up. I assumed he was right, but just in case, here’s a full breakdown of all the games up to this date. I’ll start w/ the 1st round after the jump and give the score there, and then go on to the 2nd & 3rd round games w/ a full score breakdown at the end. Essentially, if you don’t really care, go to the bottom.

College Football Week 12 Results

Chaos reigned last week, kicking off with Oklahoma State blowing any shot at the title on Friday night to Iowa State in a true gong show of a game. There was plenty of chicanery to be had in the slate we picked as well. Let’s see how we did, shall we?

Once again, I did not see a ton of the games due to being at the ND-Maryland game in DC, and the tailgating that ensued. Therefore, most of my knowledge is based on highlights. Either way, picks are picks. To judgment.

College Football Week 10 Results

Sadly this weekend I missed a lot of the games. A very good friend (actually my oldest friend now that I think about it) got married this weekend, breaking the cardinal rule of life. But things had to be done, and I missed a lot of football. Therefore the cutting edge, world-class analysis you usually get may be light this week. None of you will notice any change.

College Football Week 9 Results

Navy @ Notre Dame (-21)
Pick: Navy
Result: 56-14 ND, LOSS

Sometimes being wrong is awesome. ND scored 7 rushing TDs in an absolute beatdown. The D played strong and the offense couldn’t be stopped. If only ND played like this every week.

#6 Stanford (-8) @ USC
Pick: Stanford
Result: 56-48 Stanford (3OT), PUSH

Wow, this game was insane. Points were scored in bunches until USC decided to pull a Dayne Crist in the final overtime and fumbled away their shot at a huge upset. This game does make me feel a little better about the USC loss though. Kiffin once again coached a hell of a game. I’m starting to get scared he’s finding his groove. Come back Kiffykins, you are more fun as a punchline. Also, bring your wife. Thanks

#9 Oklahoma (-14) @ #8 Kansas St.
Pick: KSt
Result: 58-17 OU, LOSS

Oops. This was a 7 point game at halftime and KSt was putting up a good fight. Then OU rolled off 21 in the 3rd quarter and this turned into a curbstomp. I don’t know what to  say. The Wildcats forgot their power towels and they got exposed. Was a fun undefeated dream while it lasted I guess.

#11 Michigan St @ #14 Nebraska (-4)
Pick: Nebraska
Result: 24-3 Nebraska, WIN

Finally, validated. This was a good old fashioned beat down, harkening back to the days of the Blackshirts. Michigan St. only tallied 187 yards total during the game. Martinez didn’t do much, only 80 yards passing with a TD and pick, but 190 rushing yards for the Cornhuskers proved enough to get the win.

#22 Georgia (-3) @ Florida (@ Jacksonville)
Pick: Georgia
Result: 24-20 UGA, WIN

Something nice about an economy of power in a cover. Georgia did just enough in an ugly game to pull out a victory over the hated Alligator team. Good old Chucky is not having a ton of luck in his first year in Gainesville. The DECIDED SCHEMATIC ADVANTAGE saw Florida get a whopping -19 yards rushing on the day. 6 sacks will kill ya.

Week: 2-2-1
Season: 24-18-3

Well, a very mediocre week for a mediocre individual. Still, can’t go broke not losing money, right? Don’t answer that. How’d it go for you lovely folks?

College Football Week 8 Results

Sorry for being slow. But shit happens, ya know?

USC @ Notre Dame (-9)
Pick: Notre Dame
Result: 31-17 USC, LOSS

This game was just terrible on the whole. ND didn’t show up and USC brought their A game. I’ve mocked Kiffykins quite a bit over the years, but there is no doubting that he killed it this game. Dude coached a hell of a game and USC absolutely controlled this game. I’m so tired of ND shitting the bed in these big games. This needs to turn around at some point

#20 Auburn @ #1 LSU (-21)
Pick: LSU
Result: 45-10 LSU, WIN

So much murder. LSU showed why they’re the #1 team in the land. This was a beatdown from beginning to end pretty much. LSU is just crazy good

Tennessee @ #2 Alabama (-30.5)
Pick: Bama
Result: 37-6 Bama, WIN

Well, they certainly didn’t leave any room to spare, did they? This game was tied 6-6 in the 3rd quarter before AJ McCarron and Trent Richardson decided to take over. The defense of course is as unflappable as ever. November 5th is gonna be a fun one for Alabama - LSU.

#6 Wisconsin (-8) @ #16 Michigan State
Pick: Wisconsin
Result: 37-31 MSU, LOSS

Oops. MSU took this one home on a hail mary at the buzzer that barely got over the line. Sounds like it was an exciting one. Sadly I did not see any of it. I guess it isn’t really ALL RUSSELL WILSON EVERYTHING all the time.

#25 Washington @ #8 Stanford (-20)
Pick: Stanford
Result: 65-21 Stanford, WIN

Andrew Luck would like you to kindly get off his field. If you decline he will drop bombs all day until you do. The scary part of this game? Luck didn’t even do that much, only 2 TDs and 169 yards. It was ok though since the trees were busy racking up 446 YARDS ON THE GROUND?!?!? That’s just not nice.

Week: 3-2
Season: 22-16-2

Better than last week at least. Staying above .500 with 55% winning on the year. I’d like to be over 60% at the end of the year though, so gonna need more wins. How’d yall do?

Donnie: Week: 4-1, Season: 23-10-2

College Football Week 5 Results

Pretty good week for both myself, and others. Let’s get right to it.

Notre Dame (-12)@ Purdue
Pick: ND
Result: 38-10 ND, WIN

This was a beatdown from start to finish. Purdue made an interesting choice of putting Michael Floyd in single coverage, which led to him getting over 100 yards in the 1st half. With a big lead, ND decided to focus on the run in the 2nd, leading to Cierre Wood getting 191 yards (and proving he can fly) and Jonas Gray adding another 94. Best part of the game? 0 turnovers.

#8 Nebraska @ #7 Wisconsin (-10)
Pick: BADGER BADGER BADGER BADGER
Result: 48-17 Wisconsin, MUSHROOM MUSHROOM…I mean WIN

Wow. This game was just violent. Nebraska looked like they were gonna hang in there in the early going, but then it really did become ALL RUSSELL WILSON EVERYTHING. Between Wisco doing what they wanted and Taylor Martinez giving the ball back to them 3 times, this got ugly. Wisconsin is super good, and it doesn’t look like the Big TenLevenWelve has anyone who can stop them this year.

#3 Alabama (-4) @ #12 Florida
Pick: Bama
Result: 38-10 Bama, WIN

Nick Saban’s Death Machine, once warmed up, rolled. Florida got off to a quick start, which a bomb TD to Andre Debose, and then did, well, nothing. Trent Richardson continues to validate my praise with 181 yards and 2 TDs. Not only did Florida lose the game, but it sounds like they lost John Brantley at least for this weekend.

#13 Clemson @ #11 Virginia Tech (-7)
Pick: Va Tech
Result: 23-3 Clemson, LOSS

Admittedly I paid very little attention to this game as it was stuck between the awesome afternoon games and awesome evening games, but wtf Clemson? Go back to being you already. David Wilson turned in a good game for the Hokies with 123 yards, but he was about the only one. Clemson avoided too many mistakes and used an effective run game to control this one from wire to wire.

#14 Texas A&M (-3) @ #18 Arkansas
Pick: Arkansas
Result: 42-38 Arkansas, WIN

Oh Aggies. Poor Aggies. This game, which was almost a repeat of last week’s loss to Okie St, was another collapse that caused people to laugh and wonder how the hell A&M has become the lynchpin of conferencepocalypse. We got the shootout as expected, but the Aggies saved most of their bullets for their own feet in the 2nd half for the 2nd straight week. Tough to lose a game when you have 648 yards of total offense, but Lord knows this year has taught us big O production doesn’t mean shit. Especially when you let your opponent throw for 510 yards. Even if I didn’t know where the hell the game was, at least I got the pick right. Not a great psuedo SEC debut.

Week: 4-1
Season: 13-11-1

Now that’s more like it. I need more of that. While mine was good, some of yall’s was better. The difference? Showmanship., Well, and being right on all 5.

Donnie: Week: 5-0, Season: 12-7-1 (karma points lost for the incorrect gratuitous prediction. While OU won, they did not win by 638 or get the title awarded. Dummy

Matt: Week: 4-1 Season: 13-11-1.

Judson: Week: 5-0, Season: 12-12-1

Ryan: Week: 2-3, Season: 8-11-1

Kristin: Week: 5-0, Season: 10-14-1

Brian: Week: 3-2, Season: 7-17-1

Gimber: Week: 3-2, Season: 6-8-1

Slav: A NEW CHALLENGER APPROACHES Week: 2-3

Previous players that didn’t pick:

DLaw: Season: 1-3-1

College Football Week 4 Results

Notre Dame (-7.5) @ Pittsburgh
Pick: ND
Result: 15-12 ND, LOSS

Well, this game was miserable. If you watched, I’d like to apologize on behalf of Notre Dame for the pathetic excuse of a football game you watched. A win is a win, but this was just ugly.

#2 LSU (-6.5) @ #16 WVU
Pick: LSU
Result: 47-21 LSU, WIN
Hooooooooooo boy LSU is not messing around yall. Jarett Lee is proving to be a highly competent quarterback, which nobody would’ve expected quite honestly. The real story though was LSU’s D and special teams. Morris Claiborne had a 99 yard TD return that had people evoking the name of Patrick Peterson. Tyrann Mathieu had a gorgeous pick that also let me know people have started calling him the Honey Badger, because he takes what he wants and doesn’t give a fuck. This is awesome. This game led one football writer to say that LSU could probably beat half of the 1-A teams out there by just taking a knee every offensive play and letting their D and Special Teams go to work. (h/t Holly)

#14 Arkansas @ #3 Alabama (-12)
Pick: Bama
Result: 38-14 Bama, WIN
The Nick Saban death machine continues to roll on. If you aren’t scared of this team you are either already dead or welcome death openly.

#7 Oklahoma St @ #8 Texas A&M (-4)
Pick: A&M
Result: 30-29 Okie St, LOSS
This was an incredibly entertaining game that featured tons of offense and tons of times with each team trying to give the game away. The Aggies ended up out self-destructing the T.Boone’s and OSU came out with a huge home win.

#11 Florida St @ #21 Clemson (-2)
Pick: Florida St
Result: 35-30 Clemson, Loss
Again, so much fail, so little time in this game. Clemson got a huge upset over a now reeling Seminole team, just a week after breaking Auburn’s winning streak. Not a bad follow up Tigers.

Week: 2-3
Season: 9-10-1

Back under .500 so the I’m an idiot tag will make it’s triumphant return for this post. At least I know the SEC? How’d the rest of you fare?

Matt: Week: 0-5,WAMPPPPPPWAMPPPPPPPPPPP Season: 9-10-1. After what I believe is his 5th threat to never pick ND again, maybe the donut will make it stick. And yes, from now on, anyone going 0for get’s the Price is Right sad trombone. You must click this and accept your shame

Judson: Week: 2-3, Season: 7-12-1

Brian: Week: 2-3, Season: 4-15-1

College Football Week 3 Results

So let’s see how this week treated us silly fools.

#15 Michigan St. @ Notre Dame (-4.5)
Pick: Notre Dame
Result: 31-13 ND, WIN

Hey, ND only turned the ball over 3 times, and ended up beating the hell out of the #15 team in the land, pretty sweet. I’m pretty sure we can chalk it up to the fact that I went to the game. That or the fact that we held MSU to about 20 rushing yards. But nah, back-to-back Backer was clearly the key to victory.

#1 Oklahoma (-3.5) @ #5 Florida St.
Pick: Oklahoma
Result: 23-13 OU, WIN

This was a hell of a ballgame. OU finally got a big road win against a big time non-conference opponent. FSU has nothing to be ashamed of after this one though. They’ve got big games left and still have a great shot at a BCS game. Good win for good old Donnie B’s boys.

#17 Ohio St. @ Miami (-3)
Pick: Ohio St.
Result: 24-6 Miami, Loss

Miami pretty much just beat the hell outta the Buckeyes, not much more to say on this one. Not that this game will matter anyway, amirite?

Tennessee @ #16 Florida (-9)
Pick: Tennessee
Result: 33-23 Florida, Loss

Well, apparently 9 points was just enough…Stupid Vols. Tennessee tried to mount a late comeback, but they just didn’t have enough in ‘em. Florida’s 3-0…didn’t see that coming.

#18 West Virginia @ Maryland (-1)
Pick: West Virginia
Result: 37-31 WVU, WIN

Very glad that I didn’t get bit by a strange line on this one. Admittedly, I know absolutely nothing about what happened in this game. I’m just gonna assume a couch got set on fire.

So that’s a 3-2 week, bringing me to 7-7-1 on the year.

How’d yall do, eh?

Week 1 College Football pick results

I’ve already ranted and raved at the ND game across various platforms so I’ll pass here. I’m excited Rees now has the job and hope to never see 5 turnovers(3 within the 10) again.

South Florida @ #16 Notre Dame (-11)
Pick: Notre Dame
Result: 23-20 USF, loss

Turnovers will kill you.

#3 Oregon (-4) @ #4 LSU (at Jerryworld in Dallas, Tx)
Pick: Oregon
Result: 40-27 LSU, Loss

Once again, a Kelly is ended by turnovers. Oregon just could not keep the ball. Between that and LSU’s D doing things that should be assault and battery to LaMichael James and crew, this was a very impressive performance by the Tigers.

#5 Boise St. (-3.5) @ #19 Georgia (in Atlanta)
Pick: Boise St.
Result 35-21 Boise, Win

This score seems far closer than the game really was. Boise showed, again, they can compete with the big name schools when given a shot. Kellen Moore is a beast. The Boise offense will feel you out then punish your weakness, it’s impressive. I’m sure more people want Richt fired, because that’s just a given these days.

Minnesota @ #25 USC(-24)
Pick: Minnesota cover
Result: 19-17 USC, Win

Oh Kiffykins. Still going for 2, and missing twice. This was a sloppy game for USC. If I was a Trojan fan I wouldn’t be feel great, but I’d rather have cholera than be a Trojan fan, so let’s just end here.

Akron @ #18 Ohio St. (-34)
Pick: Akron cover
Result: 42-0 OSU, Loss

Not much to say, we knew it’d be murder. Turns out Fickell bro doesn’t mind going for the jugular.

RECORD: 2-3
Not a great week. Clearly just lulling y’all into a false sense of security. How’d you do?

Gimber: 1-4
Judson: 3-2 (sadly missing his bold Akron win call)
Donnie: 1-4
Matt: 2-3
Kristin: 1-4
Brian: 1-4

I love how many people played along last week. Come back tonight for week 2 picks.
